Every Tin Gifts piece is handmade to order in our workshop in Helston, Cornwall. This page explains how long that takes, how we post it, and what you need to know if you're ordering from outside the UK.
1. Making your order
We aim to make and dispatch your order within 2 business days (Monday to Friday, excluding UK bank holidays). Because every item is made individually, busy times such as Christmas, Valentine's Day and other peak periods can take longer. If your order is likely to be delayed, we'll let you know.
Delivery times below start from the day your order is dispatched, not the day it is placed.
2. Delivery times
| Destination | Estimated delivery after dispatch |
|---|---|
| United Kingdom | 1–3 working days (up to 10 working days at peak times) |
| Europe | 5–15 working days |
| USA & Canada – personalised / made-to-order items (sent from the UK) | 5–15 working days |
| Africa & Asia | 5–15 working days |
| Australia | 7–15 working days |
| Rest of world | 7–15 working days |
These are estimates, not guaranteed dates. International parcels can be held up by customs checks, local postal services and public holidays, all of which are outside our control. If you need your gift by a particular date, please order early or choose a faster service at checkout. If you're sending to somewhere not listed, contact us before ordering.
3. How we send your order
Our standard service is Royal Mail Tracked 48 in the UK, and Royal Mail International Tracked for overseas orders. Faster and tracked courier options may be available at checkout for UK orders.
4. Shipping costs
Shipping costs are shown at checkout before you pay. Free standard shipping applies to UK orders over £50. International orders always include a shipping charge.
5. International orders: customs, duties and taxes
Please read this before ordering to an address outside the UK.
Orders sent outside the UK may be charged import duties, import VAT/GST/sales tax, customs clearance fees and carrier handling fees by the destination country. These charges are set by your country's customs authority, not by us.
- They are not included in our prices or shipping costs, and we do not collect them at checkout.
- You (the recipient) are responsible for paying them. The carrier will usually ask for payment before or on delivery.
- We are not liable for these charges, and we cannot refund or reimburse them.
- Please check your country's import rules and likely charges before you order. Your local customs office or postal service can advise. Rules change often: the EU, USA and other countries have recently changed how they tax low-value parcels, so charges may now apply to orders that used to be exempt.
- We are required by law to declare the full value and contents of every parcel accurately. We cannot mark orders as "gifts" or declare a lower value to reduce charges.
- Customs checks can add delays that are outside our control and don't count towards our estimated delivery times.
Refused or unclaimed parcels: if import charges aren't paid and your parcel is returned to us or destroyed by the carrier:
- For non-personalised items, once the parcel is back with us we'll refund the price of the goods, minus the original shipping cost and any return or destruction fees charged to us.
- For personalised, engraved or made-to-order items, we're unable to offer a refund because the item has been made specially for you. We're happy to send it again once the new postage has been paid.
If you're ordering a gift for someone abroad, please let them know they may need to pay charges on delivery.
6. Channel Islands, Isle of Man and BFPO
Jersey and Guernsey are outside the UK VAT area, so parcels need a customs declaration and local import charges may apply. These are paid by the recipient, as described in section 5. Isle of Man and BFPO addresses are sent as UK orders but may take a little longer to arrive.
7. Your delivery address
Please check your address carefully at checkout, including the postcode or ZIP code, and give a phone number for international orders, as carriers and customs often need one. We post to the address you give us. If a parcel is returned because the address is incorrect or incomplete, or because it was not collected from the local depot or post office, we'll send it again once the new postage has been paid.
If you spot a mistake, email us straight away. We'll do our best to update it, but once an order has been dispatched we can't change the address.
8. Lost, late or damaged parcels
Parcels sometimes take longer than expected, especially overseas. Please contact us if your order hasn't arrived within:
- 10 working days after the end of the estimated delivery time for UK orders, or
- 20 working days after the end of the estimated delivery time for international orders.
We'll check with the carrier. If your parcel is confirmed lost, we'll make a replacement or give you a refund. If your order arrives damaged, email us within 48 hours of delivery with photos of the item and the packaging, and we'll put it right. For more details, see our Refund Policy.
None of this affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
